Our Story

The Creative You Market brings together a unique collective of hand-picked artisans who embrace creativity with purpose. The brainchild and founder together with amazing friends through the years established the Creative You Market as more than an annual market – it’s a platform that was created because of a dream to do something that is not only beautiful but also worthwhile.

Since its inception in 2009, it has grown into one of the most anticipated events on Cape Town’s cultural calendar, providing small businesses with the opportunity to nurture their talents and ideas into realities. Every event is carefully planned in collaboration with a list of carefully curated exhibitors and presented according to the markets unique style and flair. In 2024, the CY Creative You market found a new home at our host, Durbanville High School, really taking hands with the community to further build on the values of our market.
The Creative You Market believes in inspiring business owners to dream and create, pouring their inner beauty into creations that speak of style, passion, quality and the extraordinary. It prides itself on providing a service of guidance, hands-on mentoring and challenging exhibitors to push their creativity and believe in their dreams. Exhibitors don’t just hire a space, they go on a journey with us.

Visitors gets spoiled with over 150 exquisite decor and fashion displays, as well as mouth watering food truck cuisine, exquisite deli items, great coffee, fine wine, craft beer and delightful children’s entertainment. The Creative You Market goes from strength to strength and everyone agrees: it’s a market with a distinct difference. One with heart and soul – a collective of like-minded creators who are passionate about their craft.

Created with Heart,
Grown Through Friendship

What do you do when you suddenly find yourself at the steering wheel of the CY Market, heart full of vision but hands in need of help? You call on your circle of friends, and magic begins.

When San-Marié Vogel took over the Creative You Market in 2022, it felt like a dream — big, exciting, and just a little terrifying. She knew the legacy she was stepping into, and the responsibility felt enormous. But San-Marie had something magical: a tribe of women who believed in her. Six close friends, each with full lives and careers, looked her in the eye and said, “We’re in.” That was the moment the market truly became a story of sisterhood.

Every year since, they’ve carved out time, not just on the event days, but in the months of planning, packing, styling, and dreaming. They’ve worked late into the night, shared too many cups of coffee to count, and laughed through the chaos. Together, they reimagined the market as not just a showcase, but a celebration of community and creativity.
In 2023, they launched the Creative You Artisan Market at Canto Wines, bringing new life and energy to the brand. And in 2024, partnering with Durbanville High School brought everything full circle, a moment deeply rooted in the community they love.

Now, in 2026, they’re taking the Market to new heights with the addition of creative workshops, community partnerships with NGO’s, a newly developed APP and a vibrant new pop-up section at the market week.  It’s a dedicated tribute to community, friendship, and the power of creativity.

The CY Market has always been about creativity with purpose, and thanks to San-Marié and her remarkable circle of friends, it’s also a living testament to what happens when women show up for each other.

Our Journey

2009

Founded in 2009, the Creative You Market has evolved from a dream into a renowned platform for hand-picked artisans. The brainchild and founder, together with amazing friends through the years, established the Creative You Market as more than an annual market but a platform that was created with the dream to do something that is not only beautiful but also worthwhile.

2010 - 2015

From 2010 to 2015, the Creative You Market became a sought-after destination for visitors from all over. They indulged in the market's retro French ambience, strolling through the space and immersing themselves in the creativity on display.

2016 - 2019

In 2016, the market took a leap of faith by hosting its first event at the renowned Meerendal Wine Estate, combining beauty, good food, and wine. The following years saw the market moving to Stone Shed on Vrymansfontein farm, gaining a new family and continuously improving with the help of everyone involved. Exhibitors and the market team worked together, upholding the standard and quality of this beloved calendar event.

2020 - 2022

The years 2020 and 2021 posed challenges due to the COVID-19 pandemic. The market had to adapt and hosted smaller pop-ups called SPOIL under the names of Stone Shed and Picardi Place. These events provided an opportunity for creativity to thrive in difficult times, thanks to the gracious hosts. In 2022, the Creative You Market underwent a significant change with a new owner and a fresh vision.

2023

In 2023, we proudly announced the new Creative You Artisan Market, offering a vibrant celebration of creativity and craftsmanship at the beautiful Canto Wines.

2024

In 2024, we found a new home at our host, Durbanville High School, bringing family and friends together to celebrate community and creativity in the heart of Durbanville. This was a beautiful and significant moment for our team who holds the community of Durbanville close to their hearts.

2025

In 2025 our amazing team of visionaries and creatives brought us an even better and bigger CY Creative You Market, hosted by Durbanville High School. The market coincided with Durbanville's 200 Year Celebration, with a focus on heritage and community.

2026

It is our honour to host this year's event at Durbanville High School once again from 26 September - 3 October.
